  • Neonatal Stage (Birth to 2 Weeks) – A puppy’s first step

    A
puppy’s first few weeks are very crucial for their development. Puppies are born
blind, deaf, toothless and are also unable to eliminate or manage their body
temperature and rely entirely on their mother for nutrition and warmth.

The puppies are born blind and deaf because the
eyelids & ear canals are closed during birth.

  • Transitional Stage (2 to 4 Weeks)

This is a key phase for puppies, as many significant
changes occur. At this stage the eyelids of the puppy get open and they can be
    able to see.

    Walking

With a couple of weeks of
development, the puppies will have stronger legs, making them more mobile. It’s
a gradual process of strengthening their muscles. They’ll be clumsy at first
and then become more stable on their feet.

    Barking

    Now that their hearing is
more developed, communication, i.e., barking, becomes essential. Puppies are
often quite vocal as they learn how to use their voices. The progression will
go slowly from yelps to barks.

Deworming can be done at this stage.

    Baby Teeth

The baby teeth start erupted at this stage. This
period marks the beginning of the transition to solid food from milk.
